International Students

  • Airport Pick up

    BOOK AIRPORT PICK-UP

Applications for the free airport pick-up service for new international students need to be made at least five days before departure. You can make a reservation via UWA's website.

Alternatively, the Perth Airport Line will take you to the city for a bus transfer to UWA. Taxis and rideshares are also available.

  • Bank Account

    OPEN A BANK ACCOUNT

To open a bank account, visit one of our closest banks on Stirling Highway. There are plenty of options - ANZ, Bankwest, Commonwealth, NAB and Westpac. Visit their websites to compare products and start collecting all the necessary documentation. Some of you may be able to open the account online, others will need an in-person visit to a branch.

  • BUS/TRAIN CARD

The Tertiary SmartRider is the only ID Transperth accepts public transport for student fares. They do not accept student identification from your educational institution as proof that you are a full-time tertiary student. If you want a concession fare, you must carry your Tertiary SmartRider with you, even if you buy a cash ticket. No other form of concession will be accepted. More information on how to apply can be found here.

  • PHOTO ID CARD

A photo ID card provides anyone aged 16 years or over with a recognised form of personal identity, primarily for use in accessing licensed premises in Western Australia. We strongly recommend all international students apply for an ID card, rather than using your passport, as carrying this around is risky and can be very expensive (and timely) to replace. Find out how to obtain a photo card.

  • STUDENT CARD

All students enrolled at UWA are required to obtain a campus card (also known as a student card) to access a variety of services on campus as well as being your official form of UWA identification. Your student card is used for proof of identity during your examinations, electronic access to buildings, identification on UWA premises, library borrowing and electronic database access, as well as for copying and printing payments.
