2026 Graduate Association Events: Building Connections, Skills and Community
Throughout 2026, the St Thomas More College Graduate Association has continued to create opportunities for our graduate residents to connect, develop new skills and learn from professionals across a range of industries.
From professional headshots and financial wellbeing to mentoring, teaching and writing, this year’s Graduate Association program has focused on supporting our residents both personally and professionally.
Starting the Year with Professional Headshots
The year began with our LinkedIn Headshots session, giving residents the opportunity to have professional photographs taken for their LinkedIn profiles and other professional platforms.
With a fantastic turnout, the session also provided a great opportunity for residents to meet and connect with one another, making it both a practical professional development session and a valuable networking opportunity. It was a great way to kick off the year, helping our graduates strengthen their professional presence while building connections within the College community.
Building Financial Confidence
Next, graduates came together for How to Budget & Save, an informative session led by our Graduate Association Representative, Ben. The event focused on practical financial skills and strategies, providing residents with an opportunity to consider their financial goals, develop better budgeting habits and learn ways to make their money work for them.
Connecting Through Mentoring
The Mentor and Mentee Dinner Night brought together residents with mentors from our alumni and professional networks for an evening of conversation, networking and shared experiences.
The dinner provided a relaxed setting for mentors and mentees to connect, exchange advice and build meaningful relationships beyond the formal mentoring program. It was also a great opportunity for soon-to-be graduates to hear different perspectives on career development, industry experiences and life after university.
Learning from Experience in Semester Two
The Graduate Association program continued into Semester Two with a focus on professional development and building practical skills, with our alumni sharing their knowledge and experience with current residents.
Your Teaching Career with Peter Bothe gave residents an opportunity to explore a career in teaching, with Peter sharing his experience and insights into the profession.
This was followed by Level Up Your Writing with Tony Malkovic, a practical workshop designed to help residents strengthen their writing skills and build greater confidence in their professional and academic writing.
A Successful Year for Grad Association Engagement
Together, this year's events have highlighted the value of creating spaces where graduate residents can learn, connect and grow.
From practical career tools to financial skills, mentoring and professional development, the Graduate Association has provided a diverse program designed around the interests and needs of our community.
A big thank you to everyone who attended throughout the year, as well as to our speakers, mentors and Graduate Association representatives, Libby and Ben, for helping make the 2026 program such a success.
We look forward to building on this year's events and creating even more opportunities for our Tommy community in the future.
