Move-In Day – FAQs

All residents should report to Reception on arrival to check in. From there, residents will be guided through the move-in process.

Residents will be welcomed by student leaders from the Student Club Committee and Resident Advisor (RA) team. They will move through a series of stations where they will:
have their College photo taken
collect their welcome pack and College merchandise
receive their room keys
be given a brief orientation and escorted to their room
Staff and student leaders will be available throughout to assist.

Parents and families are welcome to accompany residents during check-in and while moving into rooms.

Families are encouraged to attend the Smoking Ceremony, Welcome Mass, and lunch where possible. Parents will be formally farewelled at 2:15pm, after which the resident-only Orientation Week program will commence.

No. Attendance at Mass is strongly encouraged but not compulsory. As a Catholic college, the Welcome Mass is an important expression of our faith, identity and community life. It will also include the commissioning of the new Head of College by the Archbishop, formally marking the beginning of this role within the College and the wider Church. Families and residents are warmly invited to attend. The Smoking Ceremony and lunch are open to all residents and families.

Residents should bring personal belongings, bedding, and anything previously advised.

Once residents have checked in and moved into their rooms, families are invited to remain on campus and make their way to the Smoking Ceremony at 11:30am. Signage and staff will be available to assist with directions.

Yes. A BBQ lunch will be provided for residents, parents, families, staff, and student leaders.

Yes. Siblings are welcome to attend Move-In Day events, including lunch. Please note that the Orientation Week program following the farewell is for residents only.

Following the farewell to parents, residents will attend a formal welcome from the Head of College and then continue with Orientation Week activities led by College staff and student leaders.

College staff and student leaders will be clearly identified and available throughout the day to assist.

Our office is open Mon-Fri from 8AM-4PM. If you arrive outside of these times, we have someone on call at all times. You can either call them directly at 9386 0111 or use the phone to the left of the main entrance on 48 Mounts Bay Road.

If you need something fixed in your room, or notice something around campus that is broken, you can email our maintenance team at facilities@stmc.uwa.edu.au.

Should you have Visitors, we suggest you use the visitor car park near admin and collect a temporary voucher from Janienne at the front desk.

Tommy has several bikes available to loan as part of our bike share program. Please see Janienne to check out a bike and take a key. Please see Janienne to check out a bike and take a key. Always lock your bike securely and return it to the same place you borrowed it from.

We know Wi-Fi is super important to you. You need it to be fast, reliable and ready to go when you’re studying hard. CimplyIT provides all of our internet services and the Wi-Fi connection around college is unlimited per person, which is included in your fees.
CimplyIT installs pervasive, full-site Wi-Fi with coverage in all bedrooms, shared study areas, and communal areas. Your WiFi password will be provided to you together with your room key.
Having trouble connecting or experiencing constant outages? Raise a job ticket with CimplyIT at wifi.stmc.uwa.edu.au. CimplyIT will be able to assist you.

Printing and photocopying at Tommy is available for all residents using the multi-function printer in the Print Centre. Your print account will be set up with a credit of $3.00 to get your started. Printing top-up cards are available for purchase ($10) from the College Reception.
To use the printing facility, your jobs will need to be converted to PDF. Once you have the colour or black & white PDFs ready, you can proceed to our Print Centre and use the Print Kiosk to submit your job to the printer.
Printing instructions including your login details and password will be emailed to you at the start of the Semester. Printing instructions are also displayed in the Print Centre.
